Drag Queen Bingo in Palm Springs is a lively adults-night-out idea built around drag, comedy, audience participation, drinks, and Arenas Road nightlife. The experience described here took place at Hunters Palm Springs, but recurring events can change, so confirm the current calendar before planning your trip around it.
If you have a chance to take a road trip from Los Angeles to Palm Springs, make sure Drag Queen Bingo is on your list of crazy fun things to do.
But only do this if you want to have a really fun time.
This is not the quiet, stodgy, stereotypical bingo many of us grew up imagining. This is bingo with drag queens, drinks, comedy, audience participation, and a room full of people who are very happy they said yes to the plan.
That is what makes it such a great Palm Springs experience.
Palm Springs is already a city that knows how to have personality. It can be stylish, sunny, retro, relaxed, elegant, outrageous, and completely playful. You can spend the day by the pool, walk through downtown, admire mid-century modern architecture, ride the tram, have a great dinner, and still need one more thing that makes the trip feel like a story.
Drag Queen Bingo can be that thing.
The game gives the night a structure, but the hosts and the crowd give it a pulse. You are not just sitting there watching something happen on a stage. You are listening for numbers, laughing at the banter, reacting with the room, cheering for strangers, and hoping your table gets pulled into the fun in the best possible way.
That is why this belongs in the Where Moments Matter collection.
Some moments matter because they are peaceful.
Some moments matter because they are beautiful.
And some moments matter because you find yourself playing bingo in Palm Springs with your wife, your parents, and family friends while the whole room erupts over a number call.
That kind of memory counts too.
The Place
The Drag Queen Bingo experience I attended was held at Hunters Nightclub in Palm Springs, located at 302 E Arenas Road.
Hunters sits right in the middle of one of the liveliest parts of Palm Springs nightlife. Arenas Road is walkable, social, and full of the kind of energy that makes you feel like the night has already started before you even get inside.
That setting is part of the fun.
This is not an event hidden in a quiet corner of town. It feels connected to the Palm Springs night-out experience: the bars, the patios, the music, the groups of friends moving from place to place, the easy sense that everyone is there to enjoy themselves.
Hunters works well for this kind of outing because the room already feels built for interaction. It is a nightclub, not a formal theater, so the energy is closer, louder, and more social. You can settle in with drinks, get your cards, watch the hosts take over the room, and let the whole thing build.
The MCs when I attended were Rusty Waters and Alexa Steal, and they were the heart of the experience.
They were welcoming to everyone.
They were social.
They constantly interacted with the participants.
And they kept the fun at level 10 for the entire show.
That is not easy to do. A good host can call numbers. A great host can turn a simple game into a full-room event. Rusty and Alexa did that by making the crowd feel like part of the show without making the room feel closed off or intimidating.
The game itself is familiar enough that anyone can follow along, but the version of bingo happening here is not exactly what your grandparents were playing in the Midwest.
My favorite game was Cock & Balls.
That sentence probably tells you whether this outing is for you.
It was ridiculous, funny, and exactly the kind of thing that makes a Palm Springs night memorable. You are not there for quiet concentration. You are there because the whole point is to laugh, react, and let the room get a little wild.
And then there is O 69.
When Rusty or Alexa called O 69, the crowd erupted because all participants got a free Kamikaze shot. This seemed to happen just about every game, which I am sure was completely random and mathematically innocent.
Rusty and Alexa would then grab bottles of booze and go table by table to pour drinks, which created a perfect little window for photos, banter, and more interaction with the MCs.
That is what made the event feel different from a standard show. The hosts did not stay far away from the room. They moved through it. They talked to people. They made each table feel like it had its own moment.
Also, hats off to the bartenders at Hunters.
They were not shy about pouring a stiff drink. My Manhattans were rocking, and I was buzzing before the bingo even started.
To say the least, that only added to the overall rocking experience.
The Story
This was my second time attending Drag Queen Bingo, and I can say with confidence that it can be one of the highlights of a Palm Springs trip.
I attended with my wife, my parents, and a few family friends.
I mean, does everyone go to Drag Queen Bingo with their parents?
Maybe they should.
That is part of what made the whole thing so memorable. It was not only a night out. It was a shared family-and-friends experience that none of us were going to confuse with dinner at a quiet restaurant.
The room was loud.
The hosts were funny.
The drinks were strong.
The games were definitely not traditional.
And everyone at our table had a reason to keep laughing.
That is the kind of travel memory I love because it does not require everything to be polished. In fact, the lack of polish is the point. It is silly. It is adult. It is interactive. It is a little over the top. It gives the trip a story.
There are plenty of beautiful things to do in Palm Springs. You can sit by the pool, watch the mountains change color, eat a great meal, shop downtown, or take in the desert air.
But a trip also needs contrast.
It needs something that breaks the normal rhythm.
It needs the activity that everyone talks about later.
For us, that was Drag Queen Bingo.
The best part was how quickly the room became part of the experience. You start with cards and numbers, but soon you are watching the hosts work the room, listening for the next joke, waiting to see who wins, and wondering what is going to happen the next time O 69 gets called.
That shared anticipation is fun.
You do not have to be the loudest person in the room. You do not have to be the funniest person at the table. You just have to show up ready to participate a little and let the event carry you.
For maximum fun, I recommend getting to Hunters at least 45 minutes early if the event is happening and seating is first come, first served. That gives you time to find a table or couch, get your bingo cards, order drinks, and settle in before the show starts.
When we went, there was no cover charge, and we spent about $5 per game per person to get three bingo cards each.
Since Hunters is close to the main strip, you can make a night of it pretty easily. We mainly had drinks at the show and then walked to the strip for dinner afterward. Hunters also served food, so ordering appetizers during the event was an option if you wanted to stay put.
That is another reason this works well in Palm Springs.
You can let Drag Queen Bingo be the main event, or you can use it as the first act of a bigger night out.
Either way, you are probably going to leave with something to talk about.
The Reflection
There is a special kind of joy that happens when people stop trying to look cool.
Drag Queen Bingo works because it gives everyone permission to loosen up. The game is simple. The hosts are in charge. The room knows what kind of night it is having. All you have to do is join in.
That may sound small, but it is not.
A lot of travel memories come from beauty, food, scenery, or history. Those are all worth chasing. But some memories come from shared laughter. They come from sitting with people you love and realizing everyone at the table is having the same ridiculous, wonderful night at the same time.
Those moments matter because they are unguarded.
You are not managing the perfect itinerary.
You are not trying to impress anyone.
You are not standing outside the experience, analyzing whether it is worth it.
You are just in it.
That is what this night gave us.
Palm Springs is especially good at that kind of release. The city has a long history as a getaway, and a good getaway should do more than move you to a different location. It should change your mood. It should help you relax into a slightly freer version of yourself.
Drag Queen Bingo did that.
It took a familiar game and made it outrageous.
It took a nightclub and made it feel like a community room.
It took a family-and-friends trip and gave us the story we kept repeating.
That is the whole point of a Where Moments Matter experience. You do not need every outing to be grand. You need some outings to be alive.
Whether you go with your spouse, your family, your friends, or someone you simply want more time with, be present and make it a "Where Moments Matter" day.
You come for Drag Queen Bingo.
You leave with a moment that lasts.
That is the whole point.
Where moments matter.
